Mission
Our mission as a church is to make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey all that Christ commands, to the ends of the earth. This statement, drawn primarily from Jesus' command to his disciples in Matthew 28:18-20, expresses our understanding of what we have been sent into the world by our Lord to do. While there is an endless number of good things that we could pursue, many of which we do pursue individually in our own particular callings, we believe that, when we function together as a church, it is imperative that we maintain focus on the one task that would not be accomplished on earth if the church did not exist: making disciples of Jesus Christ.
As Jesus commanded us, we baptize those who confess faith in him in the name of the triune God, and we labor to teach them to obey Christ in all dimensions of life, for discipleship never ends. We walk together as fellow disciples on the pathway to our inheritance in Christ. And we seek to do these things "to the ends of the earth," as our mission statement says, in order to indicate that we are a church focused on sending. We train and send out church planters, pastors, and lay people to continue the work in places we cannot all go. Because Jesus Christ has been given all authority in heaven and on earth, he is the rightful Lord of every corner of the globe, to whom all people everywhere owe their allegiance. Because it is God's plan to unite all things in Christ (Ephesians 1:10) and make Christ the firstborn among many brothers and sisters who are conformed to his image (Romans 8:29), it is therefore our joy to serve him in this endeavor.
